The storm on the way will be our first soaking rain since August 22. That is a 55 day day span, and we could get some water ponding on the roads or even minor flooding. So I figured it would be a good exercise to test out the high resolution modeling for the timeline. I will show that below. The rain is expected to begin after the morning commute, then become heaviest early in the afternoon, and end in the evening.
Following the rain will be when the strongest winds will be felt. This will be in the evening, just as the storm is moving away from us. Then the strongest winds will howl tomorrow night and Thursday morning. This is when the colder air will move in, and perhaps with enough moisture could bring the first flakes of the season to West Virginia and the western Maryland mountains.
