Tuesday August 20 2019

The last two days rewrote the record books in Baltimore. A high temperature of 96ºF was tied on Sunday, then 99ºF set a new record Monday.  The good news is that todays’ record is safely out of reach AND it should not be as hot. But it is still uncomfortable and quite humid, which means more strong storms will be developing. The high heat has provided a lot of cloud to ground lighting along with local downpours and some pockets of hail.

The trigger in the atmosphere is subtle, so we need to watch where storms develop after 2 PM to track who may be in the path. The simulation below is just a suggestion and as seen in the past week is not perfect. But it will be where we start to expect storms forming in the mountains.
