Sunday July 21 2019

I was up earlier today to join with some of my trek team and head out for a training session. The temperatures at before sunrise were still very warm. In fact there was a heat index in the 90s in Baltimore City at 5 AM.  So, seeing this Excessive Heat Warning may be no surprise. However, some relief is on the way.

Still Not A Record:

The record high for this date in Baltimore is 104ºF back in 1930. In fact this is the end of a 3-Day record stretch that year. Today may be the closest to 100ºF for Baltimore on the actual thermometer.

  • July 19 Record High 103ºF in 1930 (High Friday = 97ºF)
  • July 20 Record High 102ºF in 1930
  • July 21 Record High 104ºF in 1930

Sunday Morning Weather

We are still under the Heat Dome, but a cold front is heading our way. This may ignite some showers and storms this afternoon. The chance you see it is under 20%, but if you are that lucky, they could contain a lot of lightning and heavy downpours thanks to the high humidity.  The real rain arrives Monday into Tuesday, followed by below average temperatures by Wednesday.
