Wednesday July 3 2019

It might be easy to say the weather will be the same with heat and humidity, but the storm threat today is less widespread than yesterday. Tree damage was extensive and the most impactful on Rt 30 in Hampstead. But before looking at another radar simulation for guidance, please know it is hard to pin down storms with precision. Any storm can produce dangerous lightning and that is worth paying close attention to if you are outside.

This photo of lighting over the Severn River in Annapolis was on Tuesday. Big thanks to my fiend Tim Shahan for capturing this gem!

Severe Weather Risk Today

The Storm Prediction Center has a ‘marginal’ risk of severe storms marked across the southern half of our region. There will be scattered storms, but the risk of turning severe is less than 20% south and west of Baltimore.

NOTE:

The temperature at BWI has been running too warm! It has been documented, the weather station has been cleaned and calibrated. But this opens up more questions. I will have a follow up on this in my next report.

Independence Day Storms

There will be a flare up in the afternoon, but model suggestion is that the push will shift west to the mountains

Looking Ahead

Each afternoon and evening through Sunday will bring the risk of showers and storms.

Temperatures

The humidity will be climbing, so Heat Index Values will be near 100ºF each afternoon through the weekend.
