Friday May 17 2019

We are about to change the trend. It may seem like we should have rain just because it is Friday, and there will be some. But there is hope for a mostly dry day as we watch one cluster of storms in West Virginia dive to our south.  So the chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon will be only around 30%. It may also seem like an abrupt change from soggy to summer, but that’s just how we do it around here. But somewhere in Maryland will reach 90ºF this weekend. Most may feel like it.

Morning Radar Loop

3 AM to 6 AM – Looks like we have a Mesoscale Convective Complex pushing out of Ohio and into West Virginia. This is expected to fade a bit crossing the mountains and will dive south and cross southern VA. Some might reach southern Maryland.

The remnant of that storm cluster is expected to fade crossing the mountains and passing to our south. But may hold for some rain into southern Maryland later this morning. Then just a 30% chance of storms this afternoon.

These storm locations are a suggestion. Not a promise. This product does suggest a better chance in Southern PA

Preakness Saturday:

There is a chance for some thunderstorms, but they may stay west of the city. I will post more on this in my next report.

Temperatures

Here is where get a hint of summer. These are just forecasted numbers, but often our warm ups end up warmer. That is why I think hitting 90ºF is very possible. Also, there will be added humidity, and since we are not use to it, it will feel warmer. Especially for Preakness
