March  14 2019

Today is Pi Day and its popularity is growing so you are sure to hear about it a few times. It’s a day for math and science geeks to celebrate the most famous irrational number Pi. That is the ration of the circumference to the diameter of a circle. This never ending, never repeating number is shorted to 3.14, and today is the date 3/14.  I have learned numbers out to 100 places and teach my kids a few more sequences each year.  Today is also the date Albert Einstein was born in 1879. What’s not to celebrate?

Weather Today: Blizzard and Severe Storms (not here)

In between planning your meals around celebrating today (Breakfast= Apple Pie; Lunch = Pizza Pie;  Dinner = Chicken Pot Pie), we will be celebrating a mini spring. That large storm in the nation’s heartland is still responsible for a blizzard to the north and severe storms to the south. We get the warm air pumping ahead of it for two days. By the time it reaches us, most of the energy will be dispersed. There will be less rain, but possible an evening thunderstorm.

Temperatures locally will warm into the mid 60s today. Stay in the 50s tonight… and have the best chance to reach close to 70ºF Friday afternoon.

Temps warm today and stay mild tonight into Friday morning. Friday will be windy, but our best chance to reach the 70s.

Friday Morning

Friday Afternoon

Friday Rain?

There will be a few showers, but this is not looking less wet for us. The best chance will be in the evening with the cold front. After 7 or 8 PM a line of thunderstorms will try to push through central Maryland, while southern Maryland will be getting heavier storms.

Looking Ahead:

This weekend will be colder but dry.

Monday Morning… A clipper will bring snow showers NORTH of Baltimore. This will reinforce the colder air for next week… but looks like an issue for the northern part of the region.

Temperature Outlook:

If we do have that chance of snow on Monday morning, it will come at the tom of day when temperatures are in the 20s. I’ve highlighted that below. It is March and as we will see today, we can get a big jump to the 40s easily after a cold start.
