Sunday February 24 2019

At the time of this post (8 AM), the rain was falling but the back edge could be seen on radar and will be moving away this morning. The large storm that has been responsible for this also produced 4 tornadoes in the deep south and blizzard conditions in parts of the northern plains and Great Lakes. The part we get will be the strong winds and cold, dry air. This is something that will develop this afternoon and tonight. By tomorrow morning the strong winds will be combined with cold air for bitter wind chills.

High Wind Warning/Wind Advisory

  • The winds will pick up this afternoon and if you read my report yesterday you saw the strongest winds would reach north central Maryland. This now includes Cecil, northerner Harford/Baltimore, and Carroll Counties. Along with Frederick and westward in Maryland plus southern Pennsylvania: Wind speeds may gust to 60 mph
  • The Wind Advisory for the rest of central and Southern Maryland: Wind Gusts to 50 mph
  • There is a very real concern of trees coming down and power being kicked out.
