A Flash Flood Watch was already in place for much of the area, but it has been expanded to include counties in Maryland along the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay.  This includes Harford, to Baltimore, Anne Arundel, and coastal flooding in St. Mary’s. The band of rain moving in with the remains of Florence have shifted just a little to the east. The main difference is an additional half inch to 1 inches potential rainfall in some areas. Considering the soggy soil and swollen ground, that could be enough to raise water levels briefly.

Here is a look at Monday afternoon conditions and the updated radar simulation.

Doppler Radar at 1 PM

Bands of rain are moving to the north-northeast. The heavy rain in Virginia near Richmond appears to be the culprit showing just a bit east of the ‘Florence’ track.  That is why the heavy rain and flood watch have shifted to Maryland counties by the Bay/
