A Flash Flood Watch is in effect through midnight for central and northern Maryland. The conditions that enhance storms in our area are present today. A stalled front and winds from the east off of the Chesapeake Bay will continue to build slow moving storms. Flooding will be enhanced when storms appear to stall or be slow moving. Rainfall rates could be 1 to 2 inches per hour in the stronger cells. That will bring the slight risk of severe weather with hail and damaging winds as well.

Radar Loop –  10 AM to 11:55 AM

Storms have already developed north of Rt 50 and will crawl to the north all afternoon and evening.

The net result could bring a slow start to Labor Day Weekend as rainfall potential could range from 2 to 6 inches across central and northeastern Maryland. Cecil County is not included here, as a function of the local weather office in Mount Holly, but the model simulation below shows that might be in the heaviest rain bands this evening with 3 to 6 inches possible.
