July 11 2018

A cold front is what is protecting us from Hurricane Chris, and yet we hardly notice it. Today temperatures will still be hot, but we will drop about 10 degrees by tomorrow. Our weather is rather quite with only a scattered shower or two in our future into the weekend. All of the energy is on Hurricane Chris, with some left over for remnants of Beryl to possibly reemerge around the Bahamas.

This is the part of the Atlantic that has above normal water temperatures favorable to tropical development and it is proving itself. However, Hurricane Chris is a small storm. While winds this morning boosted to 105 mph, hurricane force winds only reached 25 miles from the center.  Now the path is clearly speeding up to the northeast into the open Atlantic so there are no warnings or advisories. See more on note tropical systems below our forecast.
