Saturday June 2 2018

A new Flash Flood Watch is in place for most of our area through tonight as another round of heavy rain and thunderstorms will develop. It’s just another bad weather weekend. See the radar simulation below.  There is potential for some storms to drop between 1 and 3 inches, especially in areas where they are slow moving or train repeated cells over the same spots.  Considering the soggy soil and swollen tributaries, it will not take more for more flooding to develop. PLEASE REMEMBER: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE OVER FLOODED ROADS.

Heavy Rainfall potential through Sunday Night

This one model shows between 2 and 6 inches of new rain for most of the area. There will be some pockets of lower rain, but as we had seen recently… some areas could getting the track of the rain train and push the upper limits.

The is unique situation as Low Pressure will be forming and take a more organized form Sunday on the Southern Delmarva.  Despite how warm and muggy it feels today, Sunday will have more widespread rain AND falling temperatures. WE could start the day in the 60s, and drop into the 50s during the afternoon. Definitely not how the first Sunday of June should feel.

Low Pressure forming near VA Beach will help to pump in rain and chilly air from the Atlantic. Temps will drop all day and likely bring most of our region into the 50s during the afternoon.
