Tuesday April 17 2018

I hope you didn’t get fooled by two days in the 80s and plant anything in your garden. A Freeze Warning goes into effect tonight after midnight as temperatures will be dropping well below 32ºF. This includes the normal colder areas inland from I-95 we often show in winter with more snow expectations. This time around its just allowing the temps to drop lower. Lower elevation locations and new the Chesapeake Bay will be a little warmer. This includes:

In Maryland: Harford, northern Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick, and Washington Counties. Southern Pennsylvania, and northern Virginia.

Record Low?

If you want something to show for this cold pattern, the history books may surprise you. On this date of April 17, Baltimore averages a low of 43ºF with the record has dropped to 26ºF in 1962.  But April 18 the record was 26ºF in 1875

Low Temperatures

Note: Wednesday Afternoon Baltimore should reach back to 60ºF

Normal Last Frost/Freeze

For the places that are in the freeze, this is more common than you might imagine.

Hagerstown MD average April 18 as the last date 50% of years.

Westminster MD averages April 21 in 50% of years.
