4:55 PM Tuesday August 29

Will the Orioles play tonight? I understand life goes on and that was the most common question I got today. We have rain from a no-name tropical like system off of the coast, and Harvey is continuing to break records in east Texas. My earlier post was about the ghost of Harvey reaching us this weekend which has another set of concerns. But this post is about the short term, and yes I think the game will get in.

This radar image shows the back edge of our coastal storm still holding pockets of moderate rain around Baltimore. the movement is to the northeast and the back edge is slowly moving to the east (or right side of the map). That will be shifting a little farther over the next few hours.

The Orioles are hosting the Seattle Mariners and the game is scheduled to start at 7:05 PM.  The radar simulation suggests the rain breaking up by 7 PM and showers ending around Baltimore by 8 PM.  Even if there are some pockets of drizzle or light showers lingering, the storm is moving away and the evening should progressively dry out for the city at Camden Yards.

Suggestion: Some moderate pockets of rain remain for the next hour or two and there might be a delay. But they will play. Bring a towel and wear a sweatshirt as it will be cool and damp (mid 60s). Here is a quick look
