Tuesday August 29

The chilly winds and steady rain today will hold our temperatures down in the 60s and will not feel anything like the end of August. Technically the 40 mph storm off of the southeast US coast has not been named a tropical storm yet and the characteristics may not fully develop. So this might be considered a Nor’Easter instead of getting named Irma. I will consider it to reference for atmospheric memory for a pattern into the winter season. But I get ahed of myself. The here and now is the storm today and we are in a funnel between the storm and High Pressure to our north. That is focusing the east wind off of the ocean, increasing the water into the Bay and rainfall.

Advisories and Warnings

The water will be piled up through a few high tide cycles on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay. Winds will gust over 45 mph on the lower Eastern Shore and the coast of Delmarva.

It will be a wet day. The northern edge of the rain will reach into Southern Pennsylvania, but the rain will be heaviest in central and southern Maryland where between 1 and 2 inches are likely.

Waves will increase AFTER the storm passes. So Wednesday will not be a day to be on the water after the storm departs.

Keep on Trekking
