Tuesday August 8

The system that brought severe weather yesterday is slowly trying to move away. The National Weather Service will investigate the damage are around Salisbury and should have a report… possibly confirming a tornado later today.  Rain will linger in the form of showers at the beaches, but that should end around lunchtime. Then we watch the break up of clouds, but the clouds will win most of the region. Gradual clearing from the north will bring sun to our Pennsylvania sections and northern Maryland during the afternoon.  Temperatures overall will be in the upper 70s to 80s.

Below is a look at the break down today, and then the outlook towards the weekend. Showers will return Friday evening and could linger through the weekend. I will be shifting my focus towards my Maryland Trek, which begins on the summit of Wisp Sunday morning. We have 7 days to cross the state hiking and biking. It looks like we will have rain to deal with our first two days, but then another clear period next week with cool temps.

Trek Tribute

I also want to let you know that our Maryland Trek team will acknowledge the severe storms that have hit. Last year our trip through Ellicott City was adjusted since Main St was closed following their historic flood. Our route will cross the path of the Kent Island EF-2 tornado on our 5th Day (next Thursday), and Salisbury on our 7th Day (next Saturday Aug 19).  Our hearts go out to all affected.

Get the award winning Kid Weather App I made with my oldest son and support our love for science, weather, and technology. Our 3 year anniversary of the release and our contribution to STEM education is this November. It has been downloaded in 60 countries, and works in both temperature scales. With your support we can expand on the fun introduction to science and real weather.
