Saturday July 22

Today is another day with a Heat Advisory issued for much of central and southern Maryland. Temperatures will reach the low to mid 90s as Heat Index values will reach 100ºF or higher. The difference today is that there will be support aloft to act on the heart and develop strong storms. Friday brought 150 reports of severe storms and today the energy moves our way.  These will have a chance to turn severe, with winds over 60 mph, large hail over 1 inch diameter, and an isolated tornado. Any of these storms can have dangerous lighting and local flooding. See the radar simulation below…

Stats:

  • 93ºF  Thursday’s High at BWI
  • 87ºF Normal High today
  • 106ºF Record High in 2011
  • 5:59 AM Sunrise
  • 8:27 PM Sunset
