Tuesday February 7 – Something special is on the way with sixties and seventies to snow in a day. Say that five times fast and it will either make you spit or mouth water with anticipation. FITF!  Today’s storm is not only passing to the north, but most of the rain will be in Pennsylvania. So after morning showers, the surge of warm air plus some sun between the clouds could… I say ‘could’ get central Maryland into the 70s. There is a wide range of potential high temperatures but all point to a new record today for Baltimore. We often end up a little warmer than expected with out of season surges like this. Either way, it will feel like spring. It is a strong cold front and second storm Wednesday night that will bring back reality. Here are the maps, but please note that he warm ground will limit stickage and accumulation. So I do not believe in giving snow amounts yet. If you have seen snowfall totals, that does not account for melting.

High Temperatures Today

Less rain and breaks of sun will help boost the temps. The expected range will be mid 60s to lower 70s.

Baltimore’s Record High = 64°F in 1904

Snow Wednesday Night- Thursday

GFS Model —> slider

Note that the freezing line will be sliding south. The best chance for road impacts will be west and north of Baltimore. But along I-95 in metro areas will have a burst of heavy snow that could compensate for the warmer temps.

Snow showers will continue Thursday afternoon and evening.

Temperature Outlook

Temps will be dropping Thursday, but the highs will be around midnight. After another bounce, there is another cold air pattern expected to set up.

REMINDER: NO SNOW TOTAL MAP YET

It is too early and the temperature of the ground and air both need to be accounted for. I will start to suggest snow totals tonight.
