Monday January 23 – A Wind Advisory is in place and it is already howling. At 6 AM area wind gusts are already pushing 35 mph, and expected to get stronger throughout the morning. Restrictions are already in place for both the Key and Bay Bridges. But holding on to the steering wheel in many other places will be a challenge. The pressure gradient causing this is from a storm that will bring us increasing rain mid day and this afternoon. The trade off will be winds gradually becoming less intense. As that storm pulls away, cold air aloft may allow for a mix with some snow Northwest of Baltimore overnight and into Tuesday morning. Don’t get too excited… the ground is too warm so stickage is not expected.

Mix With Snow?

This is the most aggressive model showing the wintry mix Tuesday morning. Keep in mind that warm ground and marginal temperatures do not support much stickage if at all

Temperature Outlook

Colder air is on the way by the end of the week. This will establish itself for next week. At this time, there are no storms in sight, but minor events could bring some flurries or light snow next week.
