A strong Nor’Easter will be developing on Monday. Rapid development is expected from the system that has produced deadly tornadoes across the Deep South this weekend. By the time you wake up Monday, the rough weather will be with us and the winds will grow stronger all morning. A Wind Advisory has been posted for our area as wind gusts are likely to reach 45 to 50 mph (or higher). The general time frame is 5 AM to 4 PM across central Maryland to southern Pennsylvania. The advisory starts early farther south and east, but essential we will feel the impact at sunrise across the region. This could play havoc with your commute, especially if you drive over one of our area bridges. Expect wind restrictions! Tree limbs will fly, some power lines may come down, and trash cans could end up at your neighbor’s house. If you thought winter was done and put out your lawn furniture, I hope it is secured.  The strongest winds are expected to build mid to late morning and then settle back mid afternoon.

The strongest winds will be felt on hill tops, east facing open areas, and by the bay/ Delmarva. Beach erosion is possible on coastal areas, and the winds from the east to northeast will slosh the water making for higher than normal tides on the Bay.

Storm Track

We may have a lack of cold air locally, but the storm will pull some in allowing for snow to make a return in the Poconos, central New York, and New England. Locally we can expect a general 1 to 2 inches of rainfall.
