Wednesday Dec 28 – Temperatures have dropped back closer to normal as today starts chilly and will end in the 40s instead of the 60s like yesterday. The next storm will arrive just before daybreak. As if often the case early in winter, the best chance for snow will be north and west of Baltimore where it is colder away from the Bay. Only a few hours of potential snow with a trace of stickage, then thawing during the day. Colder air and very strong winds will follow Friday, bringing snow showers into central Maryland. Then we watch the pattern begin to flip colder as the next storm will help develop some blocking in the North Atlantic. Faith in the 2017 Flakes.  See more below.

Snow Showers Friday

Upper level energy (vorticity) will bring some of the Lake Effect snow showers across the mountains mid day Friday. There could be enough for a quick coating in spots.

Developing North Atlantic Block Next Week

As the next storm cranks up across the North Atlantic, it will help to buckle the jet stream pushing warmer air towards Greenland. This allows the colder air to dive south with as a digging trough moves across the eastern US.
