Rain And Warm Winds Today Then Colder And More Snow

Monday December 12 – The icy threat overnight quickly went to rain as strong winds aloft pushed in warmer air and rain. This band of rain will cross the Eastern Shore this morning and a second push will arrive mid day. Temperatures will surge into the 50s. But this will be the warmest day of the week. The energy aloft allowing this warm surge, will depart and the arctic air sitting to our north will return mid week.

As the jet stream moves to our south, a wave of Low Pressure will will bring some flurries or light snow Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. I am showing the Canadian Model, but there is agreement on the GFS for this:

Arctic Blast spills in Thursday with a few days when high temperatures will stay in the 20s to near 30. That below freezing set up will make the storm next weekend tricky. That storm track again will be to our west, but cold air ahead of it will support snow and ice at the start. Here’s the set up:
