Near Record Warmth Today: Rain Timeline Then Temps Swing

screen-shot2016-10-30-08_42_31Sunday October 30 – After reaching 73°F on Saturday, it might be hard to imagine that today will be even warmer. Many models are pushing 80°F or better in metro Baltimore. In fact, the HRRR Model below is forecasting a high of 83°F at BWI that would tie the record set in 1946. More time has passed than the Cleveland Indians last World Series Title (1948).  that is ahead of a cold front that will arrive this evening. While clouds will increase as the front gets closer, but it looks like the bulk of the rain will arrive later in the day and this evening. At this point, most of that action will be near and north of the PA line, but some showers could slip into north central Maryland. See the timeline slider below.

As for the cold air that follows, it will only be for a day. Halloween will be chilly, but dry for trick or treaters. The overall jet stream pattern remains warm for the start of November. We can expect another warm up mid week, but I want to hint that molding pushing the mid 70s may once again be under estimating the air mass. A lot of record high temps will be set across the nation this week, and we could be getting close to that action… before the next cool down and reality check next weekend until election day.
