Saturday Aug 6 – A cold front will be moving through mid afternoon and this evening. This will spark a line of strong storms with a marginal risk of turning severe. The focus will be after 2 PM as the storms form in the mountains and then cross metro areas on the way to southern Maryland and the beaches. While this may force a change in your plans today, Sunday looks fantastic, and if you forgive me for being self serving… My Trek Across Maryland will have great weather to start from Wisp Sunday morning and for the first few days. My 325 mile journey of hiking and biking to Ocean City is to honor strong brave children and support the programs of Cool Kids Campaign. That will be my focus this week, but I will share weather updates as well. See more below.

Outlook The Week
My Trek Across Maryland is a 7 day journey from the summit of Wisp to Inlet of Ocean City. You can track me and my team, along with stories along the way on the Trek Home Page. I am so thankful for the initial pledges from our sponsors and team fundraising. Here is a link to my fundraising page which is half of our total but well on our way to our goal. A quick look at the weather is below.

The first few days in the mountains look great thanks to High Pressure and a north wind with low humidity. That will change mid week, but overall I only see one or two possible hits of rain on our route.
Wednesday- Day 4- Bike Ride From Frederick to Elkridge
I will be with a team of 10 just cycling this day. It is a route to Eldersburg to honor my friend Shawn Madden at the Gold’s Gym he owned. He was my crew chief and died on August 1, 2014 just before my first trek. But we will celebrate his positive spirit to also celebrate a Cool Kid who is cancer free… passing through downtown Sykesville as the merchants put on a street party for us. Sadly, we also are supposed to ride through Main St. in Ellicott City and the route is subject to change adding another 5 to 10 miles to our 55 mile day.
Showers in the morning are possible that day
Friday- Day 6- Eastern Shore
This day starts near the Queeenstown Outlets and ends in Sharptown at the Firemen’s Festival. This looks like a muggy day with showers and storms possible.
Saturday Aug 13 – Finish In Ocean City
If the timing works out, the cold front will be off the coast in the morning. That would bring a nice start to next weekend and great finish of the trek. The plan is to reach the water at the Inlet beach between 1 and 3 PM. If you are in Ocean City, please consider planning on joining us to celebrate.
