Wind Shift Changing Our Weather This Week

Wind Shift Changing Our Weather This Week

Tuesday August 2- Did you wake up with fog or low clouds this morning? The humidity is still pretty high thanks to overnight rain. The winds have shifted to the north, but any improvement will be gradual. The good news is that there will be an improvement. So to answer some basic questions quickly: Yes, there is a 20% chance of showers today. No, storms are not expected to be severe. Temperatures will stay in the 80s much of this week as the heat wave is over.

We can thank High Pressure north of New York to take over, but winds from the east will keep some moisture around. Below is a look at today’s simulated radar showing the movement of showers this afternoon and evening from east to west. There may be more local thunderstorms by the beaches.   That main rain threat will eventually push the rain focus in the mountains and give us a few dry days.  Heat will return for one day on Saturday ahead of a strong cold front.  That will swing through by Saturday evening and Sunday should start a cooler and dryer patter just as my team begins the 3rd Trek Across Maryland starting from Wisp.
