Thursday July 28 – It was a matter of time that the heat wave would break down and fold up shop. Today might be the last day we hit the 90s for a while as a wave of Low Pressure will bring in a chance for heavy rain and cooler temps. There is a slight risk of severe storms highlighted by the Storm Prediction Center south of Baltimore, however much of our region is under the Flash Flood Watch. Some of the downpours could include rainfall rates over 1 inch per hour.
Here is a quick look at the radar simulation today showing rain building in. The activity will grow throughout the afternoon. The HRRR Model shows that heavy storms may extend the severe storm risk farther north as they track through Washington and Baltimore this evening.
