More Rain Today: Salt On Flooding Wound?

More Rain Today: Salt On Flooding Wound?

Sunday July 31 – On the heels of major destruction from the flooding last night in Historic Ellicott City, more rain is on the way. Governor Larry Hogan has declared a State Of Emergency in Howard County. This will facilitate getting federal assistance. The flood waters have subsided  and the cleanup is just beginning. Any rain at this point is not welcome, but should be planned for.  This is just a quick look at the timeline as we watch showers and storms develop in the mountains and move east during the evening and tonight.

It looks like the timing of concern will be after 6 PM around Ellicott City. I understand there were other areas hit such as Baltimore, and the timeline is similar. This timeline below is not perfect, but rather a gauge to help plan accordingly. Rainfall totals should be less than yesterday, but the ground is saturated and and slow moving storms could lead to more local flash flooding.
