Afternoon Storms Only Isolated As Energy Shifts South

Afternoon Storms Only Isolated As Energy Shifts South

June 23 – I am writing this update to share the latest simulated radar as we are under a slight risk for severe storms, but this should not be too terrible. We have heightened anxiety after the eruption of storms and the confirmed tornado on Tuesday in Howard County. The cluster of rain this morning moved out a little earlier than expected in part because of a frontal boundary that is shifting to the south. The net result, while we will have some showers and thunderstorms develop, but isolated. The bulk of the energy will be well to our south.

Time frame of concern: 4 to 8 PM

Note: We will have some strong storms and any single cell could briefly turn severe. But this will not be widespread. Even if they don’t reach those limits, any lightning strike can be dangerous. If you have you have outdoor evening plans, I would not cancel them, just be cautious if they are in the woods or on the water.
