The full moon on June 20 2016 was special because it was the first time since 1948 that it occurred on the summer solstice. That made for the a bright night after the longest daylight of the year. The full moon in June is called the strawberry moon because that additional light can add in harvest of the crop. But based on the tilt of Earth and the celestial plane, the low angle of the moon helped to make for a reddish orange coloring as it rose in the evening. This was captured all over our region, and here are the top 10 , plus 1. I had to add one more after complaining this gallery. Here they are in no particular order. Thanks to all that shared.
