Severe Storms With Surge In Temps Then Cooling Down

Severe Storms With Surge In Temps Then Cooling Down

Screen Shot2016-04-25 06_10_24Monday April 25 – An active week is ahead and we will be on the edge of it here in the Mid Atlantic. A large complex of severe storms with long track tornadoes will develop in the central plains states which will help to push very warm air our way. The main impulse of energy will NOT reach us. But there will be a cool front acting on our heat plus fast upper level winds that could trigger storms Tuesday afternoon and evening. The primaries should not be impacted, but if you are concerned, then get out to vote during the first half of the day. We are under a ‘marginal risk’ for those to turn severe.  After two days reaching the 80s, the outlook trend appears to be cooler in the 60s to follow. The next chance of storms will be scattered at the end of the week with a nice weekend. Then a steady band of rain and storms will arrive Sunday night into Monday next week.

Temperature Surge:

We tend to end up warmer than first projected with spring surges. Here we see the NAM Model showing the push of 80s on Election Day helping to fuel strong storms.

Notes:

A closer look at the rain chances shows a better chance for strong storms in northeastern Maryland and the Eastern Shore.

Showers and storms will resurface for us on Thursday, but should clear out on Friday.

After a nice weekend, the next event will be a large scale storm Sunday night into Monday
