Saturday Snow: Arrival And What To Expect

Saturday Snow: Arrival And What To Expect

This is a quick look from Friday evening at how the snow will develop across parts of our area. The snow might actually start as rain in metro Baltimore, but a mix or snow north and into PA. Gradually this system will get upper level support to help generate colder air and more of the area with see snow during  Saturday morning. But, air and ground temperatures will be above freezing. So stickage, if at all, will be limited to the grassy areas.

Notes:

  • The heaviest snow will be between 7 and 11 AM.
  • Mixing or rain may remain near the Bay
  • Steady snow or mix will lift northeast. Northern Delmarva and southern PA may hang on to it most of the day, as moisture wraps around the coastal Low.
  • Central Maryland will get a break or lull for the mid day hours.

The upper level energy is what may feed into the Low on the coast and enhance the snow later in the day. A second surge of snow showers or steady snow should build later afternoon into the evening. This will also bring in the arctic air and drop temps down to the low 20s by Sunday morning.

The cold air catching up to the we ground is what may develop ice on some roads Saturday night.

How Much  Snow?

Note that road should stay wet, so the best chance for any stickage and accumulation will be on grassy areas.
