Snow And Rain Timeline March 19 Thru 20

Snow And Rain Timeline March 19 Thru 20

Saturday March 19 – Clouds will continue to roll in, lower and thicken. Snow has already reached the mountains of western Maryland and West Virginia. While we still expect this system to move east, the arrival this afternoon is up for debate. It will do ‘something’, but the storm looks less impressive. The modeling is split with the rain and snow, but the GFS Model seems to be the winner with mostly a Saturday event. The Sunday part redeveloping off the coast should be just out of reach.  So today is the day, and it will continue tonight. Then the improvement for our region can begin.

Here is a look at the GFS Model, which is still robust about the snow chance reaching the peak this evening. But remember that with temperatures above freezing, stickage will be limited.

Closer look: HRRR Model

This raised more questions as the model is stuck on rain for central Maryland. A big difference from the GFS and expected wet snow. But it will be doing something during the afternoon and evening. I still see snow mixing in and remain with the same forecast of no problems on the road. This will come down to intensity. When it falls heavier, it will drag down colder air and allow for more snow to mix in. But at this point, it is more about what you will see falling, but the traveling remains just wet roads.

Temperature Outlook:

This also remains the same with a chilly start to the week, but a big bounce back to the 70s by Thursday. Easter Weekend looks mild.
