February 16 5:50 AM Update- The cold definitely held strong overnight. As a result thick ice covers most everything and will be slow to thaw despite the warming this morning. Many schools are on a delay or closed, but it is still a wait and see how much ice can melt or break up in a few hours. Consider putting an ice cube on your table. The room is warm, but the cube takes some time to melt. Now imagine if the entire table was covered in a layer of ice, and that is what we have. The main roads that have been treated are wet, but what has not been handled has a thick cover of ice. So these temperatures show an improvement on the way, but a little deceptive. The ground is still frozen and will thaw slowly. Please be safe venturing out.
A Winter Storm Warning is still in effect (implemented last night) for the heaviest ice areas. In Maryland this expires at 10 AM, Pennsylvania at 7 AM…but should be extended.

Warming Up, But….
This will be interesting to see if the storm can push the warm air in like suggested below. It might be 10 degrees cooler than suggested here. I am only posting these images to show you that it will warm up. Also to see if this model is still stuck not assessing the ice and snow pack well.
Temperature Outlook
A break for a week but winter will try to return before the end of the month
