February 12- Update to try and simplify the advisories.
- Winter Weather Advisory (purple shade): Central Maryland and northern Virginia this afternoon through midnight. General dusting to 1 inch of snow. Some spots will get up to 2 inches.
- Wind Advisory: Same area as above plus southern Pennsylvania. Through Saturday. Winds will gust to 50 mph
- Wind Chill Advisory: Southern and central Pennsylvania. 5 PM Saturday to 11 AM Sunday. Wind Chills will be -15°F to -20°F
Notes:
- Snow will fall for 3 to 5 hours.
- It reaches metro Baltimore by 8 PM; Eastern Shore tonight.
- Total: 1 to 2 inches north and west of Baltimore. Most get a dusting to 1 inch.
- Parts of Delmarva will get over 1″

Weekend Highlights:
- Saturday’s high temperate will be at midnight, falling into the teens during the afternoon.
- Winds will be gusting over 30 mph. Some places to 50 mph. Wind Warnings are being issue west and north, but might be expanded. I will elaborate in my next post.
- Saturday: Snow showers. Sunday will be dry and sunny
- Sunday will be colder, but winds will ease a little.
Records?
- Saturday Feb 13: Record Low = 1°F in 1983; Coldest Daily High 10°F in 1899 (but our high will be at midnight then falling all day)
- Sunday Feb 14: Record Low = -2°F in 1979; Coldest Daily High 18°F in 1916 (best chance to get this one)
Storm Next Week:
This is the quick view. I will have more info this evening plus the two full sliders of these models.
- Monday: Light snow begins in the morning.
- Monday evening: Moderate snow and possible change over to the south and east.
Tuesday:
- GFS Model has come back to the east, with a slightly colder track.
- GFS is slower than the Canadian.
- Canadian is still the coldest solution keeping snow and ice west of the Bay. Rain for Delmarva Tuesday.
- May end with period of snow.
- Another band of light snow possible Wednesday.
