February 4- Fog has lifted in the past few hours, west of the Chesapeake Bay. That is good news for many of us, where the Dense Fog Advisory has been cancelled! But the problems persist on the Eastern Shore where 90 school delays are in effect for Queen Annes and Talbot Counties. The main issue stems back to a slow moving front. That kept our temperatures lower Wednesday and allowed for more rain to fall. The result has been more flooding. Now it will also let the next wave act on colder air to bring a burst of snow Friday morning… again on the Eastern Shore to the beaches.
Here is a quick look at the developing coastal system that will be confined to a few hours and eastern areas. Due to the timing overnight and Friday morning, there could be more stickage and road issues even with marginal temperatures:
How Much Snow?
The depends in part to the temperatures, but there potential spreads between 1 to 3 inches. The NAM model is much more aggressive than GFS.
Looking Ahead:
The Upper Air pattern next week will become colder and more unsettled. There will be some snow developing late Monday through Wednesday, but at this point it does not look well organized. I think that will become more evident in a day or two. But please note this will NOT be a repeat of the blizzard.
