It already feels a bit like spring with highs in the 60s, but I am believe we have a good chance to surge to 70°F on Sunday. After mentioning shorts for the Ravens game on Sunday, I am doubling down on the run for a record high temperature which would be 69°F, set 126 years ago in 1889. An outbreak of storms along in Texas and Oklahoma on Saturday will weaken as the system moves east and north, but it will charge the atmosphere with stronger winds and push the warmer air our way. As is often the case, we end up warmer for a little longer than first thought, but it will break down early next week.
Below is a look at the upper level winds that will develop ahead of this complex. The storms will move in our direction, but weaken. Notice the direction from the south pushing in the warm air. Then, as it moves over our region on Monday, we will get rain and the cold front to shift the winds and end our warm spell.

Ahead of the storms, we will warm up. Even when we get rain, and some isolated storms Monday. If you have been tracking this GEFS Ensemble I’ve been showing all week, I’ve pointed out how it will creep up. Now it is showing 70F for Sunday for the first time
