TuesdayDecember1WeatherMapDecember 1 continued the rain, and it is the start of meteorological winter, which is defined as there whole months ending on the last day of February. The astronomical start of winter is on the solstice (lowest sun angle of the year) on December 21 at 8:49 PM.  It might be hard to consider that as we remain on the warmer side of the storm track after finishing a warm month. This November was the 12th warmest on record for Baltimore compared to the 15th coldest month last year.  A difference for sure with credit going to El Nino.

This current storm pattern will send two waves of Low Pressure our way. The first with heavier rain this morning, eventually tapering to showers or a few dry hours this afternoon. The second wave arrives Wednesday and it will ride overhead with another surge of rain.  Two radar simulations below sort out the timeline. The cold air that follows will bring snow showers to the mountains Thursday morning. Much like the Ravens win Monday night, you might have trouble believing that flakes will fall locally. But the upper level winds support some flurries reaching the northern parts of metro Baltimore. Check it out:

Simulated Radar Today:

Heavier rain mid morning through mid day.

The second wave of rain appears to arrive this evening. The GFS Model below shows it moving in Wednesday morning, but lasting much of tomorrow.

Faith in the Flakes Snow Shirts

During the weekend I introduced our new shirt designs as I partnered with Ink Splash in Westminster to print and promote online.  Our Maryland Flag Flake is a big hit, but the original and Christmas shirts are available. Please note that we are adding more colors and ladies shirts (hooded shirts). So if you want more options, those should be available to order this week.

Also- If you order in bulk of 10 or more together from a school, first responder complex, or medical field, AND live within an hour drive of Baltimore I will deliver them personally.  We hope you love our new styles to show off your show and support small local businesses. Thanks for your support. See each description on this store page with links to order.

Snow Showers?

The upper level energy measured at jet stream level (500mb = around 18,000 Ft) shows support for at least flurries to reach Adams, York, Lancaster Counties in PA, and northern Carroll, Baltimore, Harford, and Cecil Counties in Maryland on Thursday morning. No stickage expected.
