Sunday May 9
The clouds have returned, capping in the chilly air. But the atmosphere is more stable than yesterday. The risk of showers this morning through mid day will be highest west and north of the cities.
A cloudy forecast tonight may push the rocket launch back another day.

Rocket Launch Weather
If it is OK to wish for a delay, this would be one of those days. The reason: Too many clouds would keep us from seeing the artificial aurora display.
Model guidance forecast has most of our region shrouded in clouds. This includes around the Wallops Island Launch Pad. That may be one reason this attempt may get postponed.
Yesterday, upper level winds were unfavorable. This evening winds aloft at some altitudes may still be strong. I do not have the limits for restrictions, but I will address that in an update on that later.
Rocket Launch: Third Attempt
Temperature Outlook
Chilly temps with highs remaining in the 60s through next week.
Sunshine State Of Mind
I am done with the cold and snow (for the season). I am embracing my wife’s mantra of Sunshine State of Mind.
This was designed by Shannon Berk and we will be wearing it through spring and to the beach.
Double Benefit: Proceeds will be split between our nonprofit Just In Power Kids and the development of my new weather website. That has been scheduled to be ready to launch in May.
