Summer Heat May Bring Thunderstorms Wednesday Evening

We have transitioned quickly through the seasons. Last week we had snow showers and today we were deep into the 80s. Baltimore officially reported 85ºF at BWI, the warmest day since last September 8 (231 days ago).

Will summer heat bring thunderstorms?

We pump in a little more heat on Wednesday, along with more moisture. You should notice more clouds in the sky, but also the chance for thunderstorms as the next weather system approaches. There is not much support locally, as the frontal boundary will still be to our west.

But with the heat, there will be isolated showers popping up between 5 PM and 10 PM. So if you have kids playing sports, it may be worth keeping some attention on the sky.

Wednesday Morning Temperatures

It will feel like we jumped into summer right from the start. Some urban areas may stay near 70ºF at sunrise.

Afternoon Temperatures

We have expected to pump in a little more heat than Tuesday. Model projections have a tendency to lag behind with temperatures, so it is possible some spots get close to 90ºF

With summer heat, we may get thunderstorms….

While we get a little drop in temps, it looks like spring is finally here to stay.

I am done with the cold and snow (for the season). I am embracing my wife’s mantra of Sunshine State of Mind.
