Tuesday March 30 2021
After a chilly start and some patchy frost, we have a nice afternoon on the way. Perfect timing for my son’s start of baseball practice, and after all school sports (where is it open).
Steady rain arrives tomorrow afternoon, with some heavy bands and thunder to the south overnight. By Thursday morning, the cold air will bring wet snow to metro Baltimore and north. Yes, that will be April Fools Day, but it’s not a joke.
Morning Surface Weather
High Pressure in control with the wind shifting from the south/southwest to bring back a warmer afternoon. That cold air in the northern plains will reach us in two days.

Temperature Animation: Wednesday Afternoon to Thursday Morning
Watch the Cold Front: Wednesday will be warm with the rain, but we can see the cold air push through with force by Thursday morning.
Rain/Snow Highlights
Wednesday Afternoon
Some showers may pop in the morning, but the main push of steady rain will be in the afternoon.
Wednesday Evening
Steady rain will last into early evening. But more showers will continue overnight.
Thursday Morning
Snow shows up in central PA after midnight. Meanwhile the band of heavy rain in Southern Maryland may have rumbles of thunder.
The snow showing up should be wet and melt on pavement. But there may be a coating on the grass and car tops in the colder inland counties.
Thursday Noon
Snow showers could reach south of Baltimore and northern Delmarva. It will be too warm to stick, but possible to see the flakes falling.
Snow may actually fall during the baseball opening games in New York and Boston.

Temperature Outlook
Looking closer a the temps, the high on Thursday will be at midnight, then falling and staying in the 40s in the afternoon. Freezing in metro Baltimore Friday and Saturday mornings. Then we will be back to the 60s for the afternoons next week.
