Wednesday March 24 2021
So far this rain event has lived up to expectations and then some. This is only the third day this month with measurable rain in Baltimore this month. As of noon, the hourly rain reports add up to 1.03″, with more continuing to fall. This should get us to what models forecasted, and possibly surpass it.
Here you can see the updated rain simulation, as well as the Live Radar Widget. Also, Low Pressure may be passing through central Maryland later. We can spot it on the radar loop.
Rain Total As Of Noon (Doppler Estimate)
Surface Weather Map
Low Pressure was plotted to our south in North Carolina at Noon. This is moving to the north within the circulation around the larger storm in the Minnesota. Keep scrolling and you might pick up on something interesting about the Low.
Radar Loop
Check out this animation. The moderate to heavy rain is seen yellow and orange colors. Watch the bottom of the image. That circulation banding appears to be around Low Pressure that is pushing into southeast Virginia and heading north our way. This is what will keep the heavier rain around for a few more hours.
