The clear sky overnight allowed James Willinghan to capture this amazing photo of the Waning Gibbous Moon over Maryland. The illumination was 79.6%.
Morning Surface Weather
The clear sky will dominate our weather for the next week. It will be quiet but not boring.
This morning a storm is passing through the southeast US. One week ago this was projected to bring us snow, which I highlight to show that modeling has been poor for long range weather this past season.
The weather pattern will be mostly quiet for the next week with the next big change, a big warm up.
It is very chilly to start the day. You will need a coat this morning, but may carry that coat home this afternoon.
A big jump of 25 to 30 degrees on many thermometers
Sunrise: 6:35 AM
Sunset: 6:01 PM
Average High Temperature: 49ºF
Record High Temperatures: 78ºF in 1923
Record Low Temperature: 5ºF in 2014
Jet Stream Through Next Week
- Blue: Cold
- Orange: Warm
Notice the colder trend tomorrow through the weekend, then a big warm up next week.
This weekend will feel like winter. Next week the question will be how warm can it get. Often when we have a spring warm up, we end up even higher than projected.
That means, it is possible to actually reach 70ºF in some local areas (away from the water) by the second half of next week.
