We are in the middle of the step down of air masses with one more cold front to move through today. This will increase the winds, may bring some sprinkles or flurries, and then bring in the coldest air of the season.
Thermometers will reach freezing in Baltimore City and most Bay areas for the first time this season. This will be the latest first freeze on record for (at least) the last 50 years. Then we warm back a little for the weekend.
This is quite the contrast to the major hurricane landfall in Nicaragua for the second time this month. We will take a quick look at that and video of destruction below.
Morning Weather
Quick Forecast
Hurricane Iota (eye-Ota) Satellite
Landfall last night was officially as a Category 4 with winds down a little to 155 mph.
Video Of Destruction
This roof was ripped off with strong winds in Nicaragua.
Hurricane Iota National Hurricane Center Forecast Track
This storm will weaken over the mountains. The destruction is catastrophic!
It should be down to a depression when it reaches the Pacific Coast of El Salvador. If it regenerates, it would get a new name as a new Pacific Storm.
Back To Our Weather
Showers With Cold Front: Lake Effect Snow could bring 1 inch of accumulation to the western Maryland Mountains. Some showers are possible that do not always show up on computer modeling. These could be sprinkles or flurries. Only for appearance, no impact.
