October 6 Hurricane Delta Now Cat 2 As We Warm And Track For Our Weekend

The main story today is Hurricane Delta that continues to develop rapidly. We have quiet weather locally with. chilly start and warmer afternoon. I will show our forecast below and impact from the storm for our weekend.

Hurricane Delta was named Monday morning, but this morning has 100 mph winds and a Category 2 storm. This is the 25th named storm of the year, and now 9th hurricane. It is about to become the 3rd major hurricane and first ‘Greek Alphabet’ storm to hit the US.

There is symmetry and deep conviction around the core. It will be upgraded further today as this travels over the warmest water along its path.

Forecast Path

This is expected to reach Category 4 intensity when it comes very close to a Cancun/Cozumel landfall, then reemerges in the Gulf of Mexico.

Often storms in October will peak in the Gulf, then lose some intensity upon landfall with cooler influence from the north.
