Saturday September 26
The wind is from the east, which almost always brings in more clouds and showers. Today it is thanks to the storm that was formerly Tropical Storm Beta. I posted a really cool looking satellite loop showing the rain cells below.
This morning has started with an overcast sky, bands of rain, plus some drizzle and fog not seen on radar. But we have mild temperatures in the lower 60s.
Below is the forecast and links to your local weather pages that include zoomed in radar and hourly forecast. Also, we will warm Sunday and Monday, then possible thunderstorms Tuesday into Wednesday will mark a dramatic cool down next week.
Visible Satellite Loop
This is really cool. The shadows at sunrise help to highlight the bubbling up of some clouds tops with the heavy rain bands this morning.
If you saw my report earlier this week, the local Doppler Radar in Sterling, VA is out of service. We can still see some rain from other sites in our region, but the smaller droplets will be missed in addition to gaps in the mountains.
Doppler Radar at 8:30 AM
Dover DE Site
- A band of rain is moving north through Baltimore, Centreville, and Dover.
- There are pockets of drizzle, mist, and fog that may not be seen on this radar
Regional View
More rain is seen in Southeast VA, and will be following up the Bay. There will be more showers today into the afternoon. Eastern Shore and The Beaches will remain damp/rainy most of the day. It will be more spotty inland.

Here is a look at the model guidance timeline. The results may end up with more showers than shown or suggested by short range forecasts. So if you have outdoor plans, plan more and hope for the best.
Temperatures
Saturday Afternoon: The easterly winds will keep temps in the mid 60s to near 70ºF for most of the region.
