September 13 Weather And Quick Look At Tropical Storm Sally

Locally our weather will improve today as High Pressure is overhead. Sun this morning will mix with more clouds again, but the rain should pass through the mountains west and north today, while metro and southern areas remains dry. Our rain chance will be tonight.

The main story is Tropical Storm Sally, pulling away from Florida and set to make landfall near New Orleans this week as a hurricane. Below is a quick look. I will have a full report following this forecast:

Temperatures

We had a chilly start and a definite hint of Autumn in the air west and north of Annapolis in the 50s.

Satellite And Set Up

High Pressure is overhead which has cleared us out. But clouds will try to reform during the day. A cold front to our west will bring rain to the mountains. But metro areas to the beach will remain dry.

Tropical Storm Sally has 50 mph winds and is expected to intensity to a Category 2 Hurricane making landfall near New Orleans. Some of that moisture could reach us by the end of the week.

Afternoon

Metro areas reach the lower 80s, but 70s more widespread on Delmarva, inland and up in PA. Western Maryland mountains get more rain showers and stay in the 60s.

The GFS Forecast also shows: Hurricane Paulette (right side) reaching Bermuda tonight; Tropical Storm Sally (bottom), making landfall as a hurricane this week, then turning slowly to the Northeast. We will have to watch any moisture from that trying to reach us.

A Storm Surge Warning has been issued from Port Fourchon Louisiana
to Mississippi/Alabama Border.

A Hurricane Warning has been issued from Grand Isle Louisiana
northeast to Ocean Springs Mississippi, including New Orleans, 
Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas.

A Hurricane Watch has been issued from east of Morgan City
Louisiana to west of Grand Isle.

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued from east of Ocean Springs
Mississippi to Indian Pass Florida.
