July 24 Maryland Weather Morning Rain Then Late Day Storms

Friday July 24 2020

Today will be cooler thanks to rain that has been falling overnight and this morning. More is on the way later on. This break from the heat will only be one day.  We will be back to the 90s this weekend and could push 100ºF one more time next week. Today we focus on the rain, then mostly dry this weekend.

Here is a look at the set up and forecast. We have continued to have short range models under estimate the storm activity. I have a simulation below to use as a gauge and it does suggest some very strong storms. We will have the potential for severe weather with damming winds and flash flooding.

Rain will last another hour or two in central Maryland. It might take until noon to depart Delmarva.

Southern PA and western hills of Maryland will get the break in rain much sooner.

Storms will redevelop this afternoon. This model suggests cells may slow down or stall in metro areas this evening.
