Thursday July 23 2020
The storms that erupted yesterday broke the heat and led to some local flooding, especially in Baltimore City. Some areas received as between 2 to 3 inches of rain. The muggy weather we start today with will help to feed more scattered storms today, and there could be more flooding. The good news is that the extreme heat will break for a couple of days, but return by Sunday and next week.
Today’s Heat Advisory covers less area, but the chance for storms will be widespread. See the forecast below.
Rainfall Yesterday
Morning Set Up
A band of rain passed through central Maryland and southern PA before sunrise. There is a larger cluster in the mountains that signifies the activity we could see at any time.
Temperatures: It’s Muggy!
Radar Loop
The cluster of storms in West Virginia is fading, but should regenerate later this morning.

Reminder: Short range modeling has been under estimating the storms. We can expect there to be more coverage again today, and I suspect the activity may start sooner (noon to 2 PM, especially in western and northern hills)
