Monday July 13 2020
This week is the middle of the climatological hottest time of the year. Yes, this is summer. The ‘normal high’ in Baltimore is 88ºF, so reaching the 90s is not a hard reach. But that mark for a long period of time is considered to be a heat wave. If we use that mark, then nine of the first 12 days this month reached that. In fact, we began this pattern back on June 27 (13 of the last 16 days)
The winds today will bring a drop in humidity and temperatures should be near normal. But mid week, the heat will return and the jet stream locks us in a heat bubble into next week. It will not be the most oppressive we have seen, but it is likely to last through next week.
Morning Set Up
You may have had some fog at daybreak. A band of low clouds may give linger a few hours this morning, but the humidity will drop during the day. The sun will return region-wide and the chance of an afternoon storm is less than 20%.

Looking Ahead
Rain Outlook
Not much rain is expected through the weekend. The best chance will be on Thursday and Friday. A lot of the green on this map view are for scattered showers, not well organized.
Jet Stream
The ridge in the atmosphere will lock us in a heat bubble again. Most of this will be a few degrees above normal, but this puts us in the lower to middle 90s.

Temperature Outlook
Note: This product has been a little low on temperatures that have verified at HOT BWI. We might get the upper 90s for a few days early next week.
