June 15 Weather Still Cool On The Edge Of Southern Rain

We are threading the needle this morning with a very delicate balance of clear cool air to the north and persistent rain to the south. This is the developing cut off Low developing, and making for a wet week at the North and South Carolina beaches. The clouds have moved in across parts of our region this morning, and the rain will try to spread in in a couple of days.

Today’s weather will be mostly clear and cool north of Baltimore, with more clouds as you travel south. While some morning showers have reached southern Maryland, the rain is more likely near Richmond and Virginia Beach.

If you are at the beach, the wind will keep it very cool, which will be much more noticeable if the clouds hold tight.

Temperatures: This is interesting. Where it will be mostly sunny in southern PA, only in the lower 70s. Metro Baltimore/Washington it will reach the upper 70s, but have more cloud cover. But coastal areas stay in the 60s with the wind off of the ocean. Also chilly with the rain in southeast VA.

Another night to open up the window and give the air conditioning a rest.

Afternoon: Most areas between 5 and 15 degrees below average.

Storm Animation

Rain will start to move into Delmarva Wednesday, then more likely into metro areas Thursday. Notice the pulsing of green. That suggests the bulk of the rain will be afternoon and evening showers.

This rain will be more prominent over the weekend.

Looking Ahead:

The Cut Off Low will drift over Maryland this weekend, then eventually fade away. That is when temperatures should modify and heat back up.
