Tuesday May 5 2020

Today is Teacher Appreciation Day and Cinco de Mayo. In this first week of May we will also celebrate Nurses, and end with Mother’s Day. These are all signals of mid spring, but the weather will return to late winter.  In the cold pattern with a few events, snow is still possible in the mountains of western Maryland time this week.  Flurries could reach metro areas Saturday and widespread frost on Sunday. It will feel more like March.

Quick Cast:

  • Tuesday: Cooler, Rain south. Most get rain tonight.
  • Wednesday: Chilly Rain, Snow in the mountains.
  • Thursday: Dry, Cool
  • Friday: Chilly rain, more mountain snow.
  • Saturday: Rain showers mixed with snow or flurries.
  • Sunday (Mother’s Day): Morning Frost Inland.

Rain Forecast

Snow Forecast

The time of day will battle with potential stickage.  A dusting to a few inches (on the highest mountains) are possible. More snow is likely on Friday.

Skipping To Friday

Rain should be with us most of the day. The cold air will be deeper and time out with the evening to allow for a better chance of stickage.

Saturday

Snow showers will be close!  This model depiction is showing flakes in southern PA, but I believe the afternoon will develop more. Most of central Maryland will get chilly rain showers, but snow flakes could mix in.
